Introducing the LifeWell Browser Extension: Wellness at Your Fingertips
The LifeWell browser extension is a toolbar companion for Chrome, Firefox and Edge that the current release of LifeWell does not ship. This post is its announcement. It described hydration reminders you could answer without opening the app, prompts to stand and to rest your eyes, quick logging of water, mood, medication doses and notes, and a popup showing the day so far. The reasoning was that somebody working at a computer spends six to eight hours inside a browser, so the habit should be where they already are. The reminder outlived the extension. Three desk nudges live in the app now.
Wellness Where You Spend Most Time
If you work at a computer, you likely spend 6-8 hours or more in your browser every day. The LifeWell browser extension brings your health habits directly into that environment, making it easy to stay on track without switching apps.
Key Features
Hydration Reminders
The extension sends gentle reminders at customizable intervals to drink water. Each reminder lets you log a glass directly from the notification without opening the full app.
Movement Breaks
Sitting for extended periods is detrimental to health even if you exercise regularly. The extension prompts you to:
- Stand and stretch every 45-60 minutes
- Perform simple desk exercises
- Take a brief walk
- Practice eye exercises to reduce screen strain
Quick Logging
Log health data directly from your browser toolbar:
- Water intake
- Mood check-ins
- Medication doses
- Quick notes
Daily Summary
A clean popup shows your daily progress at a glance:
- Water intake versus goal
- Medications taken versus scheduled
- Next reminder timing
- Quick access to the full LifeWell app
Installation and Setup
The extension was built and never published to a store. There is nothing to install today, and what follows describes what it did rather than something you can add to your browser.
Signing in used Chrome's identity API, so no third-party script was ever loaded. Reminder intervals, break frequency and notification style were set from its own options page, and it was meant to sit pinned to the toolbar.
Privacy and Security
The LifeWell extension is built with privacy as a priority:
- No remote code execution: All functionality is bundled within the extension
- Chrome Identity API: Secure authentication without third-party scripts
- Minimal permissions: Only requests the permissions necessary for core features
- No tracking scripts: No Google Analytics, no third-party trackers
- Data syncs securely with your LifeWell account through its Supabase backend
Sync With the Main App
Everything you log through the extension syncs automatically with your LifeWell account. Water you track at your desk appears in your mobile app's daily total. Medications logged from the extension update your adherence record.
Tips for Getting the Most From the Extension
- Set realistic break intervals that fit your work schedule
- Use the quick log feature to capture data in the moment
- Check the daily summary each afternoon to see where you stand
- Customize notification tone to something subtle that does not startle you during calls
Available Now
The LifeWell browser extension is not available. It was built for Chrome, Firefox and Edge, it was never published to a store, and the current rebuild does not include it. LifeWell itself runs in any modern browser and as an Android app.

What people use it for
Open `/wellness` and set how often to be nudged
Open `/wellness` and set how often to be nudged, with a start and an end to the day, so nothing arrives before you sit down or after you have stopped.
Take or skip an eye break
Take or skip an eye break, a stand-up or a posture check as it arrives. Skipping is an answer.
Log water from the daily check-in in the few secondsβ¦
Log water from the daily check-in in the few seconds between two calls, which is the whole promise of logging on the glass rather than on a dashboard.
Turn browser notifications on
Turn browser notifications on at `/profile/reminders`, which says plainly when the browser has allowed notifications but this device is not subscribed, instead of showing a switch that lies.
Questions
Does the extension come with LifeWell today?
The current release does not include one. This post is the announcement it was made in, and it is kept as it was published because the URL and its title were already indexed. What covers the same ground in the app is the three desk nudges: eye break, stand up and move, posture check. Water is logged from the check-in and medication from its own list.
What did it actually do?
Four things, by its own account: hydration reminders at an interval you chose, which could be answered from the notification itself; prompts to stand, stretch and rest your eyes; quick logging of water, mood, medication doses and notes from the toolbar; and a popup showing the day so far with a way into the full app.
Where do I get the same reminders now?
On the wellness pages. You set how often to be nudged and the hours in which it may happen, and each nudge can be taken or skipped with nothing counted either way. Quiet hours apply to reminders across the whole app, so an evening one is held until afterwards rather than dropped.
Did it send my browsing anywhere?
The announcement does not mention browsing at all, in either direction. What it claims is four narrower things: no remote code, because everything it runs is bundled inside it; sign-in through the browser's own identity API rather than a third-party script; only the permissions the core features need; and no analytics or tracking scripts. Reading an extension's permission list before installing it is worth the minute either way.
Is this post still accurate?
Partly. Its description of what the extension does is the announcement as written, and the line about where it syncs was corrected when the backend moved to Supabase. The app it describes syncing with has since been rebuilt, and that rebuild carries no extension of its own.
