Can I share something with a relative who does not use LifeWell?
Within limits, yes. A share link carries a health metric or your medication list, and photographs and memories are not among the things it can carry. It is a long unguessable address, and that address is the only thing protecting it, so it expires and you should send it the way you would send a password. Whoever opens it is not signed in and is not asked to create an account, and the page is not indexed by search engines.
Does adding someone to the family tree let them see my record?
No. Being in the tree is not access, and the page says so in those words. Adding a relative records a relationship, nothing more. Sharing is decided per person and per part of the record on the sharing page, it takes effect the moment you revoke it, and nothing is shared account-wide by default.
What happens to a relative who has died?
They stay in the tree with their dates, dimmed rather than hidden. The line to them is drawn dashed. Nothing about the record is deleted, which is most of the point of keeping one. The reading key explains every one of those marks, and all of them survive greyscale, so none of it depends on seeing colour.
Is a connection the same as sharing?
No, and the difference is deliberate. A connection means two accounts know about each other and can offer things to one another; what each person can actually see is decided one item at a time, in one place, and can be stopped in the same place. Being connected shares nothing on its own. It is an introduction, not a key.
