The professionals directory is a list of people who have chosen to list themselves on LifeWell — a GP, a dentist, a physiotherapist, a counsellor — ordered by how far they are from you and by when they are next free. It is a way to find somebody, and a way to check them yourself. It is not a vetting service. LifeWell does not check anyone's qualifications. Everything on these listings was typed in by the person themselves. We print their registration number and link you to the public register so you can check it yourself in about a minute — that is the part we can honestly offer. There are no ratings here and nobody is recommended.

What people use it for

Finding somebody who speaks the language you do

Search by name, language or what they treat. A listing says which languages the person told us they speak and what they say they work with — long-term conditions, knees and backs, weight and gut symptoms — in their own words rather than in a category we assigned them.

Checking a stranger before you sit down with them

Every listing carries two columns: what the person told us, and what anyone actually checked. The second column is honest blanks. It tells you exactly which sentence you are trusting and who you would have to ask to confirm it, which is more useful than a tick that means nothing.

Looking somewhere the directory is still empty

This directory is new and it fills up slowly, city by city. It will stay honest about being small rather than widening the radius until something appears — a physiotherapist 400 km away is not a result. Your own GP, dentist and physio live in your people list whether or not they are on LifeWell.

Saying no to sharing your position

Refusing gives you the whole directory, in full, sorted by city instead of by distance. The only thing missing is the "N km away" line on each card, because there is genuinely no number to print. Nothing is withheld for saying no, and nothing asks again.

How it works

Say where you are looking — Choose a city, or allow your position while the page is open. Distances are measured from whichever you gave, your position is never stored, and refusing sorts the list by city rather than emptying it.
Read what they told us beside what was checked — Every listing carries two columns. The first is what the person typed about themselves. The second is what LifeWell checked, and on every listing in the directory today it says nothing.
Check the registration number yourself — It is printed in full, with a link to the public register that issued it. That check takes about a minute, and it is the honest version of what a tick would have claimed.

Questions

Does LifeWell check anyone in this directory?

No. LifeWell does not check qualifications, registration, insurance or identity, does not employ anyone in this directory, and does not recommend anyone. Listings are written by the people in them. The one thing we can honestly say we confirmed is that an email address reached the person, and that proves nothing about their qualifications.

Why is there no rating out of five?

Because we have no review process that would make one honest. A rating implies a review base, a moderation process and a volume of opinion, and inventing that in a design is how it gets built. The list is ordered by distance and availability, both of which are facts, and the ordering says so.

What does "Checked by us: nothing" actually mean?

Exactly what it says, and it is the truthful entry for every row today. It is a column rather than a footnote so it cannot be skimmed past. A blank that says "not checked" is worth more than a tick that means nothing.

Do I have to share my location?

No. Distances use your position only while the page is open, and only if you allow it. Refuse and you get the same directory, in full, sorted by city — the only thing missing is the distance line, because there is genuinely no number to print. Your position is never stored, and nothing asks you again.

Does asking for a consultation book anything?

No. It sends a request. The person decides whether to accept it, and nothing is booked until they do. A request can sit unanswered for a day, so it is not the route for anything urgent.

Is a consultation here the same as seeing somebody in person?

No. Nobody can examine you through a video call, and a conversation about your numbers is not a diagnosis. If something is getting worse, or you are frightened, go and be seen — and if it is an emergency, call your local emergency number instead of waiting for a reply.

Nobody is listed near me. Is it broken?

Probably not. The directory is new and it fills up city by city. You can search a wider area yourself, or add the professional you already see to your own people list.

Is this the same as my own list of doctors?

No, and the difference matters. Your own GP, dentist and physio live in your people list, on your device, whether or not they are on LifeWell. This directory is strangers who typed their own details in and chose to be found.

Tips

Search the registration number on the regulator's public register before the first appointment. It takes about a minute and it is the check that actually matters.
Ask to see the certificate at the first appointment, and phone the clinic to ask whether the person practises there. Both are things LifeWell cannot do for you and you can do easily.
Your own GP, dentist and physio belong in your people list rather than here. That part works everywhere, whether or not they have ever heard of LifeWell.
A consultation arranged through LifeWell is between you and them. It is not a substitute for being examined in person, and it is never the right route in an emergency.
